Oil leak... Rebuild?

I have noticed my plugs gets oily, one is particularly bad.

Engine seems to run fine, what are peoples thoughts? Is a rebuild needed? Worth changing piston rings, honing bores? Changing valves/ valve seals?

The engine is a 95 893cc blade lump of unknown mileage.

Happy to find any locost solutions before ripping in to the engine, as gasket sets alone are ££'s!

Thanks

Your sure that when you take the plugs out, oil collected from outside is not coating the plugs on removal?

I nearly took an engine apart due to that, instead just had to change rocker cover.
Thanks
Darren

Sounds like the same as my ZX12 lump. Ive done a comp test on mine which shows 2 cylinders low on compression but still above the minimum spec.

Im 'thinking' of rebuilding mine at the moment but it runs well. Only thing i dont like is filling it up with oil every 300 miles.

What is your oil consumption like? if its mild then i would leave it, only rebuild if the plug missfires from being too gunked up or you are using way too much oil for your own liking.

Its most likley piston rings which will need replacing but i would inverstigate more before pulling it apart.

Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.
