I run the cheapest ass Ebay special I can get my hands on.

Are you sure you haven't got a regulator problem causing over-charging?

Check the labels on the battery, if they are rippled thats a sign of overcharging.

Sounds like over charging probably the alternator zener --- fit a voltmeter/battery condition meter to keep an eye on it.

Bike batteries do seem to be very variable in quality. I have got through 2 in the last 18months. Some of the problems were self inflicted.

Now my starting, and charging are working properly I have invested in another one, which is a more expensive Busa one which is a Yuasa Gel one, from MDS (£50 delivered). Hopefully this will last a bit better.

I had considered the tiny Red Top 8, but decided that it was probably too small. The slightly larger ones are no more expensive and give you more of a safety net.

Why dont you just disconnect the battery and take it in indoors? That will sit fine for 9 months if charged.

I have had loads of customers in the past having problems with standing cars and their batteries because of the large temperature changes (-5 deg to 25deg while outside). If your car is in the garage this will be less of a problem.

Just a thought.

Hope brands goes well on thursday.

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!
