air filter fix
Further to yesterdays air filter question - what is the cheapest but most effective way to fix the problem in the pics in the link?
The air filter is mounted in the bonet instead of fixed to the carbs, only going over the carbs when the bonet down?
thanks

I'm assuming its one of these filters thats been stuck into the bonnet:
ITG are good filters - the cheapest way would be to get a proper back plate to match the filter you've got already
(assuming its not been wrecked by sticking it to the bonnet...)
I've got the same carbs as you (all be it on a car engine) and I'm now planning to keep the plastic backplate that you can see in your pic
above - then cut out a big hole out of the filters back plate and stick/ bolt them together... (much the same way that that plastic plate is attached
to the airbox one the bike)
http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk are the place I know for ITG stuff (where I got mine)
this is the type of back plate you get for common carbs (like twin webbers) but you can buy blank ones and cut your own holes to suit
of course you'll need to know which size of filter it is first - this link might help you id the filter you've got:

or make a card template to fit where the ally plate will sit - then buy a new filter fix to plate and remove the one glued - will the old filter not
clean to stop it being replaced?
