R1 head swap..

Will an 98-01 r1 head fit a 02-03??

As far as I know they're the same motor but my 03 has fuel injection....

no they dont. Theyre very similar engines, but one of the things they changed was the heads. (along with the sump and pickup pipe) the inlets are a bit longer on the 4xv, and a slightly different angle.

That wouldn't stop it from working though would it? Long as the throttle bodies fit. Along with the 5pw cams and cam cover for the trigger sensor.

no, they should work... the cylinder sizes are the same, as is the cooling etc.
Why not track down some more 5pw heads?

I found a 01 head, ported and flowed with yam11 Kent cams and new head head gasket


Don't even know what I'm doing and will probs sell it on if I don't fit it to mine
