help mk indy blade misfire.

help please really struggling with missfire on 919 rrw engined mk indy.was fine b4 put it to bed end of last year.when i drove it for 1st time this year when you put your foot down struggles to hit max rpm.almost like a ht fault or fuel issue.
so far have fitted new plugs changed coils and leads cleaned carbs.fault still there.when i was checking things i heard a hissing noise from battery (standard blade)i felt the battery and was very hot.checked charge rate and at idle was charging at 19v.battery did go flat over winter so suspected bad cell in battery.fitted new battery checked charge rate seem to come down to 13v.took for drive still misfiring.recheck charge rate 17v?rectifier issue could the over charging have damaged ecu?could i disconnect rectifier then test to see if misfire issue cured?any other ideas?

thanks

marc

Yes. You can run the engine with a rectifier disconnected. make sure the battery is fully charged. High voltege can cause misfire on some engines so check it out by running on just 12 volts.

If it can't be fixed with a hammer then its probably an electrical problem.

Failed/failing rectifier WILL cause bad running
17v is too high, get it changed before more damage is done

I had a rectifier go this way, destroys the battery in a very short time and mucks up the running, get something a bit stronger than a standard blade one, have a search on here for alternatives.

Update.disconnected rectifier unit and tested still missfiring even though only 12v now at battery, could the ecu be fried?cant think of anything else.Fault has only occured since vehicle was left over winter and battery went flat.I presume battery went flat then rectifier tried to charge dead batter which cooked that which then meant when it was charging at 20v it fried ecu?seems long shot.but looks like needs battery rectifier and ecu?

anyone think this is possible or am i waisting my money?

cheers marc

Glad you got the charging sorted
It may need tuning, but was it OK last year. If so what's changed?
Did you check all the diaphrams for splits?
Wouldnt normally suggest this, but have you got fresh fuel in it?
Has it ever been rejetted/dynojetted?
What air box have you got?

When you say cleaned the carbs, was it just float bowls off and clear any crud or did you whip the jets out and blow them thru

Still got missfire.i know fuel is good nice and fresh i have taken carbs right to bits and cleaned every jet diaphrams all look good.i havent changed throttle position sensor.could this have been damaged when overcharging fault was there?what does the tps do?could i be right in thinking this advances the timing higher up the rev range could this be the fault?
running standard jets standard air box etc all ran fine with this last year.

help

thanks
