R1 BEC questions.
Now I'm on the road, taken the car out a few times albeit limited by the weather. The car is blistering quick and what I expected and fantastic
to drive! There are a few things that are worrying me that I have noticed.... And i'm already paranoid about everything so need to keep me
sane!
Engine R1 5VY 2006
1) On cold start up the car emits a lot of white smoke doesn't smell like burning almost seems to be water vapor its not blue smoke either. I
don't drive her till she is up to temperature idling around the 1000rpm by which time there is no smoke and no smoke whilst driving either. (I
have still got my IVA Cat exhaust on as haven't had time to switch yet)
2) Oil level when cold is above the sight glass when Hot and idling is half way up, Is this correct?
3) Im using a header tank, When the car is cold the water level is more than half way, when hot and idling it sits at half way, when I blip the
throttle the water decreases quickly down the sight glass.
4) When pottering along there is a minute ticking that when you accelerate increases and goes away, I think I have read an R1 ticking sound somewhere
before.
Sorry for the questions, but I really don't want any problems... I have too much fun driving her!

1- That's normal this time of year mine does it and so does my raod bike= noting to worry about
2- Oil level sounds about right i have mine at the very top then about 200ml extra, i always check my level when cold ie engine not running
3- when you blip the throttle the water pump will spin faster so would pull the coolant though sounds normal to me
4- not sure about the ticking they can be a bit tickery when first started.

All sounds ok to me. Watch out if the tapping noise gets any louder though and enjoy !
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.
