Engine Temp

Does anyone know what temperature my CBR1000F engine be running at?

It is in a MKindy with a Micra Rad

The thermostat is fully open at 87 deg C so I was thinking it should be running at around 90 deg C.

My car seems to run between 80 & 85 deg C and goes up to 95 when going slow in traffic the rad fan kicks in at 98 deg.

Any ideas

James

if the thermostat is fully open at 87 degs, shouldnt it end up running just less than this?! or have i got the wrong ond of the stick? i guess it also depends on what temp it shuts at, and how fast it changes.

ZX9R C engines are listed in the Haynes manual as having stats which open at 58 to 62 deg. and a cooling fan which switches on at 96 to 100 deg. and off at 91 deg. The stat is just reducing the flow of water through the rad until it reaches operating temperature.

In the real world my car runs at about 85 deg. when going along and goes up to 95 to 100ish in traffic, depending on the ambient temperature and how hard I've been driving. Your CBR engine is about the same so that should be fine.
