Fireblade wiring loom
Can anyone with the knowlege or rescourse tell how much difference there is between a 1996 and a 1994 loom please
I am guessing both being carbs, with the exception maybe of the clock or cdi wiring they are very similar but would be very grateful for some
confirmation

Colin,
From memmory I think they are quite similar but doesn't 1996 have a throttle position sensor and also use gravity fed fuel so there will be no
fuel pump\relay.
I have the haynes manual so if you like I could scan both and if you are going to donnington bring them alog or send them as PDF's.

I'd say about 2 years! 
Seriously though - shortie has is about right.
ISTR the speedo pickup will be different, but will probably be length rather than difference due to sprocket pickup/gearbox pickup respectively being
different.
Oh and the small difference of clocks. The 1996 may have a anti theft device, which can be bypassed with a small resistor.

Ahaa, Had`nt thought about fuel pump stuff being absent.
Does throttle position feed back to cdi?What if you did`nt? Or could it be cheated I wonder with a resistor or similar?
Also where then do folk with 96 on engines feed their fuel pump from then? Any live ignition feed?
I will order some books tonight!
Sppedo sensor_ hadn`t thought about that either! Ones on sprocket the other is where?

I'm afraid I'm not sure exactly what needs doing with the throttle position sensor and I guess the fuel pump just has a feed from the
ignition with a fuel cut out relay in the circuit.
Looking at your photos looks like the cars coming along nicely! Definitely worth getting the Haynes manual, got mine from Halfords.

Looking at it it looks like you just connect all the throttle position sensor wires together.

An earlier engine will certainly run on the later loom (I had a friend of mine's 93 blade running on my 99 loom and carbs to test), but Im not
so sure about all the little things like dash compatibility etc.
I think the 97 was the first engine with the throttle pot (though it may be 96), and likewise 97 or 98 was the first with the anti-theft
device, and the 98 was the first with gearbox pickup for the speedometer so they shouldnt concern you.
I wouldnt worry at all about the fuel pump relay either, it just needs an ignition feed so simple enough to add in manually.

Thanks for your helps guys.
I haven`t got either yet but as I am not having much luck getting an engine kit complete, or even a complete bike at a sensible price, i`ve almost
resigned myself to collecting the bits from various sources hence the post.
I have ordered some manuals but they haven`t got here yet and besides theres nothing like a bit of personal experience is there?

But the brick wall that is being without an engine is rapidly looming which I will need for further progress.
