Carb vent tube? ZX9

What have people done with theirs? I had a small filter on mine, but thought it would be better if the hose was connected to the
air box, to equalize pressures. Engine ran rough as a rough thing, removed tubing and it had fuel in it , it looks like fuel was being sucked into carb intakes.

I use a ZX9 engine in my autograss car, not exactly the same thing as your situation but along the same lines. I found that the carb vent really has to be inside the airbox to get the top end power from the engine.

This video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtISwbsv-yc brought this fix to my attention where when people convert the zx9 bike to a streetfighter, they loose some of the ram air pipes or something, putting the carb vent into the airbox pointing into the direction of air flow fixed my problems.

I also had fuel coming out the carb vents, I bought a carb rebuild kit for each carb about £10 each and this seemed to fix my problems with hard rubber on the float valves.

The problem was that I connected the hose into the airbox just above the carb trumpets, so it was in an area of depression oops!
I need to fit the hose near the air inlet into the airbox. Many thanks for the video link, the mud has cleared

If its the ones on the top they just need to go to air. I just swung them round, pointing down and ran 2 bits of tube level with the bottom of the carbs.

Just to add, I found out the hard way, thought the carbs were blocked, spitting and back firing so cleaned then with thinners.. DOH! Back to ebay for another set....

I thought that since the ZX9 is a ram air engine that with the increased airbox pressure at speed the carb pressure reference should also come from the same point. My engine saw a considerable jump in performance when the carb pressure refrance was put into the airbox. Much more lively in te higher revs, happy to go way beyond 12000rpm

If you are in need of some carbs, I have a set of c1 carbs that had a rebuild kit a few months ago, going to fuel injection on my zx9 so they are for sale.
