YAMAHA 1000cc engine

Can any of you BEC guys identify this engine i know its a Yamaha 1000cc its a EXUP, so its either a R1 or Fazzer how to tell?

Thinking of going over to the dark side, any advice on changing from x-flow to Yamaha 1000cc, other parts etc.
Oh and what to check on the engine prior to fitting and what to replace other than the clutch.
Cheers

Or FZR1000 from the late 80's early 90's

head over to FAZER Forum/site

if you have an engine number some on there might manage to help you find out exactly what you have

Looks a lot like an EXUP to me. From 89 to 95. Predecessor to the Thunderace mentioned above.

Well collecting the engine at the weekend, don't think i will convert it this winter, this will give me a chance to get everything i need ready.
The engine comes from a running bike with no problems and comes with wiring harnes etc for a bargin price tag, need a cradle, prop and make a list of anything else i need.
I will change and upgrade the clutch.

Quick up date,

Got the engine it runs and goes through all gears, it came with all wiring etc except the clocks as it was an accident damage bike not much left of the bike but no damage to the engine.
Its from a 1991 Yamaha 1000 thunderace 145bhp and 107Nm of torque so should be ok.

Anyone else fitted one of these, will it need the sump baffeled?
