Ok
thank you for your replies.
is it possible to use z1000 cylinder block and pistons with a zx9r E downdraught head or do i have to use the z1000 sidedraught head ..
if i have to use the z1000 head what carbs could be used?
any advice gladly accepted.
thanks.

I have looked into this in the past, but my egine is a 98/99 designation and my understanding to date was that the A1-A6 barrels and pistons were a
simple swap and replace (but that was on a C1 or 98/99 engine) keeping original 98/99 carbs but then fettling with carb jets.
What I do not know is if the E has a different shaped/positioned exhaust.
I did not bother going down this route in the end, as I would have had to move engine mounts and fabricate a new cradle, which I do not have the tools
to do.
someone may be along later with better insight or a more precise answer.
PS I thought that for the e/f engine you could buy a big bore kit to 958/998.

there is a big bore kit available but i allready have the z1000 parts.
i am still not sure if its possible to fit the down draught head and carbs to the Z1000 cylinders.or if i have to use the sidedraught head but with
9r cams.
