R1 Clutch

Could you guys let me know the best method of uprating an R1 clutch please. I've read lots of different opinions, but you lot seem to know best. (Grovel, grovel).
Is it strictly necessary in a BEC, or is it simply to increase the weight at the pedal, making it feel more car-like ?

Double up on the clutch diaphram spring is the best way to go

I agree with Jasalarms. I have double up my diaphram spring. Never slipped on one spring but occasionally had some judder. Now no judder and feels alot more car like. I have heard that the spring on the FJ1200 is heavier duty and the same size but not tried.

Thanks guys, that's just what I wanted to hear !!
Jasalarms, I've been looking at your build pictures. Nice job you're doing there. Where will you be you getting your exhaust manifold from ?? I need one pronto.
Do MK offer one off the shelf, as I can't bring the car to have one fitted on-site like.

All help gratefully accepted !

Same as bob, got mine from MK, have fitted the manifold temporarily just to get the hole in the side panel right!

Thanks for the praise, but she has been left like that since late July!!!

Check out Hellfires website, plenty of good workmanship went into his baby!

Are there any modifications required to fit a 2nd clutch spring in the R1? Or does it simply slip over the existing one?

How much is a 2nd stock clutch spring?

Thanks

Hi!! I ´ve built a BEC for two years ago with a Yamaha R1 engine.. And I didn´t mod the clutch at all.. I talked to MCxpress (wellknown Swedish MC Turbo firm) and they told me that a didn´t need to upgrade the clutch if the engine is stock (didn´t matter if it was a 600kg car). The clutch is made to the enginepower.. I can confirm that it works very well! But it is very easy to "push"- so it would be for that reson to upgrade.

That little car is far too cool to go unnoticed. Was that hood actually designed to be aerodynamic/direct air to the engine, or just for looks?

Hi!! The scoop on the hood was designed (by me ) to force air in to the engine. The R1 engine were so high that I couldn´t use the orginal hood- So why don´t improve a little bit.. And I thing the design whent out realy nice too.
