zx12 wiring

Hi just started he wiring today trying to make sense of it .Having done 3 other mks with bike engines and a uno turbo powered sonic we thought it would be reasonably simple but far from it there's wires upon wires seems so much more than the injected R1 we've done

It really isn't that bad....! If you need some help, I have a few pages from this site bookmarked that may help. My advice would be to find a good copy of the wiring diagram, and really study it. Then start taking out circuits you do not need (I only used the engine/ECU loom from the bike - the lights, ignition etc all run in separate circuits). Work methodically circuit by circuit and wire by wire. You will be amazed how much you can strip out. Label everything as you go - connectors, sensors, wires - it will all help you as you go!

Once I had the loom stripped back, I laid it in place in the car, and connected it all up to make sure it still worked (I had done the same before I started modifying the loom). Then figure out which wires can be shortened, and which need lengthening. I took the next stage really slowly to avoid any mistake. Cutting and extending just one wire at a time. If you cut a load at once, it is too easy to muddle them up!

Don't forget you will need to bypass or take car of the safety cut outs (side stand switch, clutch switch and tilt sensor), and you need a 100ohm resistor in the grey wire that goes from the ignition switch to the ECU.

Honestly, it is not as bad when you break it down circuit by circuit. When you look at it as a whole, it looks horrendous!

I followed this page and the wiring diagram.

Good luck.
