3.21 CWP English Axle
Gents
Would anyone running a live axle car be interested in a 3.21 ,or around, CWP set. I am long into doing a run of them if there's the interest.
The ratio has been mentioned by Andy Bates for a good mix between 3.38 and 3.14 for racing, and would suit a road car for more prolonged 70mph drives.
The 3.21 is based on the freelancer diff ratio and as I'm sure your aware 3.54 is the lowest set available for the English axle.
I don't know it costs, lead times etc I'm just judging who's interested

Sound but we're looking at £400 each for a run of 30, or £1400 per individual set , ouch.
This is the first quote I've had

Would definitely be interested at £400, but my interest will gradually decrease as it moves up to the £1400 mark.

I have a Dolomite Sprint automatic back axle with something like 3.08/1 ratio, may be worth a clean up !

No real interest , seems the English axles had its day. Going it alone for £1500 :-0

Does that mean you've worked out a way of adapting the Freelander CWP to fit the English axle, or just that you're having gears machined
to the same ratio?

Bit of a thread revival, but i've found a place to get the CWP a little cheaper than i first expected, for the English axle set-up.
It will be a 3.1:1 ratio so good for bike engine installs and a cruising gear in a car installation:
CEC - Revs at 3000 using a 0.87 type 9 5th (there are others) on a 205/60/13 = 75mph
Or a 1.0 6th ala Caterham box as above = 65 mph
BEC - Using the calculator on the locost site in the BEC forum, all at 6000rpm:
ZX9 - 68mph
ZX12 - 78MPH
98 Fireblade - 74mph
CBR1000 - 68mph
R1 - 72 mph
Busa - 77mph
Roughly speaking you have 10mph more for cruising than with the lowest available 3.54 CWP, at the same rpm. Or you could look at approx 1000rpm drop
for the same speed i.e. 7000rpm would be the above speeds.
All above bikes will have different model years so may change eg the Busa doesnt show if its a Gen 1 or Gen 2.
If we can get 10 people the sets are around £500.
Ill be posting on other forums as well to see if numbers can be raised, of course more than 10 will be cheaper as well, the costs are in tooling set
up.
Please phone for details and i can run through the process.

PS - I can maybe get the VAT off, so we can reduce the costs.
