R1 secondary throttles?
Has anyone tried running a 5vy R1 without the secondary throttles/butterflys?
On the odd occation I've gone for a 10/10ths start, it always feel like I've fluffed it. Now if it was just sometimes (or even nearly
always) I'd blame myself but everytime... I think it's possibly the ECU shutting the secondary throttles. So I'm thinking of
removing the butterflys (simpler than taking the whole lot off).
If you've done it...
Did it affect the mixture or have any other unwanted consequences?
Did it run better without them?

Basically there's two sets of butterflies; One cable controlled and the second driven by the ECU. Without the secondaries, if you went WOT too
quick at low revs it could bog down, so the ECU uses the secondary throttles to alleviate this and gradually open the secondaries. It also means the
throttle responce is tamed down a bit, so easier to ride the bike... less likely to throw you off exiting a corner. Whether this is deliberate or
just a happy coincidence of the ECU being a bit slow, is open to debate. Reports are of faster throttle response without them, at the expense of
needing to know just how quick to snap open the throttles open to avoid bogging down. Also the ECU is alleged to use them to shut things down if you
give it revs and drop the clutch which is what I suspect I've experienced; Again all well and good on the bike but not necessary in a car.

Ah right cheers.
you could prob alter the power commander to get over the bogging down a bit?
Do other bike manufacturers use secondary throttles or something similar?
