Hi everyone,
I'm seriously considering having a go at building a car and like the look of the R1OT. Having spoken to the guy at Sylva the price of £5k to £5.5K sounds ok and the write up in Totalkit car seems to give it the thumbs up. So my question is anyone on here building one at the moment?

I started to consider building one but have changed my mind. My concerns were the non colapsible steering column, emmissions and SVA. I would be happier if the R1ot had been SVAed already. The guy at sylva doesn't seem to care much about it.

I still think it's a great car and if it had been succesfully SVAed when I started to look then I wouldn't have looked elsewhere. other BECs are just as good.

I think that sylva have shot themselves in the foot by ignoring SVA. It's their loss.

been to sylvas today and can confirm you can use a sierra steering colum if you want

if a locost can be built at home from scratch and pass the SVA then there's no reason the R1OT can't be, maybe just needs a little thought thru the build, not seen one in the flesh......

Latest versions seem to be using sierra column as mentioned. The first few seem to be using the old CBR engine so emissions not a problem and they will be SVA'd. Lead time seems a little long at the moment though at a few months. The write ups seem very good and handling as with all Sylvas will be very sharp which is what I like over other manufactures. The other big plus is that it does'nt use the quaiffe diff as in other cars like the GTR1 so will save on cost. The estimated R1 build being £5-5.5K. Assuming about £1300 for the engine.

is that road legal? do you need a reverse for sva? i mean i seriosly wouldnt care about a reverse on a 500 kilo car that i used once in a blue moon.
