I guess the first question should be - how much can you afford! 
The Avos / Protechs / Spax etc of this world are all good value for money, but there are dampers such as the Nitron NTRs (designed by Darren@GTS ISTR)
which are significantly better, although obviously more expensive at around £200 per damper
