Engine arrives!
My 'blade engine was delivered today.
I spent a couple hours staring at it sat on the drive, then staring at the Avon rolling chassis alongside it and then back again, pondering all the
while on how the feck am I gonna fit it and line it all up etc? (Oh I wish Tiger did a BEC cradle for the Avon!)
Finally, I decided the best course of action to take, was to sit in the car and, instead of making brrrm brrrm noises, (like I did with the pinto!) I
let out a high- pitched banshee-like-
'Whhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhh....Whhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhh' which was my version of a four-pot bike engine on full chat! ...'certainly
got the curtains twitching, I can tell you!!
(I'll have another look on how I'm gonna fit it in the next day or two...)
Regards,
Andy.

'Yo Steve,
Where you been hiding to?
I've been looking at the measurements |I took off your cradle and chassis and they don't add up when I transpose them to mine. Have you
removed/modified/replaced the 1" triangular cross - brace at all? (passenger side, next to scuttle) as it seems it may be tight lining the
engine up between that one and the one on the same side at the front.
Don't fancy bringing her down Sat morning or Sunday, do you? so I could compare our chassis
Cheers,
Andy.

Tiger do two chassis's for the Avon and it is that dia tube that is smaller on the BEC.
You will need cut it out and weld in a new one. Sorry I don't have any more info on the exact changes I just remember Jim saying to me thats a
bike chassis. And my thoughts were why make 2 different chassis. Thats Tiger for you.
Carl
PS:- Mine is a bike chassis (Well made to the same dimensions) but with a pinto fitted and it make no difference.

That probably makes sense, Carl.
My chassis is a v.early one dating from late 2001. (same as in 1st edition of Tiger Avon book)
I've already noticed significant differences between mine and Lightning's chassis. (example, at rear, his chassis has extra pieces and
plate let in to enable rollbar rear downtubes to be fixed to chassis.)
Didn't realise they did a chassis specifically for use with bike engines though!! (pity they can't go the whole hog and make cradles a
well!)
Would you be able to take dimensions of your cross-piece in relation to the chassis for me? Mine is fixed at 210mm in from chassis L/H side rail, along
the full-width scuttle rail and 260mm along the side rail from the scuttle rail. (hope that makes sense!)
Thanks,
Andy.
