Blade Exhausts
Anyone know what size (diameter) and spacing (centre to centre) Fireblade Exhaust Ports are?

hmm - dunno - if anyone knows how they compare to CBR 1000 ports I'll take a measure to mine if you like??

I'm struggling to sort the exhaust out. Only managed to find one company in Newcastle who could make one for the ZZR, but they want mega
money.
I could get it trailered down to MNR or MK but by the time I've done that and added the cost of the exhaust the cost mounts up.
So I was wondering if I could use one of these?? It's for a Fireblade, but if the diameters are the same, then I think I could sort out the
spacing by triming the straight ends as they go 4-2?

A word of caution, a lot of primaries bent like that sit VERY close to each other where they bend up, and often half overlap behind each other meaning
once one is in position you cant necessarily slide the one next to it freely without hitting the other pipe.
Have a look at my manifold as an example, the two middle pipes are very close and wouldnt be able to slide hardly at all, when putting it all together
you have to do it in the right order otherwise it just wont go together!

I just remembered Ive still got my old ST blade manifold up in the loft which Phil Farrugia is having so Ive just put the tape measure over that.
The primaries are 34mm internal bore diameter and 40mm external at the head seating face, and about 79mm between bores centre to centre, this seems to
be fairly consistent between all 4 bores (ie the ports aren't offset in the head at all).
Its a fully welded manifold (not one that comes to bits) so the measurements should be pretty accurate, but not quite as accurate as having a head
which I could have done up to a couple of weeks ago when I flogged my spare.

Guinness - who makes that manifold? Looks remarkably similar to the Caterham FB manifold, which I believe was made by Cheesemans....

Thanks lads, looks like a custom job.
The ZZR manifold I have is 35mm internal and 38mm external diameter and the ports are 90mm centre to centre.
Yes that photo was from Caterham, but there was one on ebay for a lot less.

Is the 38mm diameter the diameter of the tube or the actual collar bit at the top, cos thats what I measured (at a guess the tube is 34mm internal,
37mm external bore), 1mm bore size wouldnt make a huge difference, mine might even be 35mm as I only measured it with a tape measure!
Looking at the photo of the Caterham manifold then it might work, because you're ports are wider than the blade, if looking at the pic
left to right you'd be leaving primary 1 the same, chopping down No 2 by 10mm, chopping no.3 by 20mm moving it away from 2, and no.4 by 30mm.
They look like they might space out like that OK, the only one that might cause an issue is no3 and no4 but they look like they pass behind each
other.
You could always buy it and bolt them up to the head to check before modifying it at all, and if no good then sell it on, someone on here would
probably have it off you for a blade install.

Cool! Those manifolds look lovely. Im not sure what im gonna do yet - a friend of mine and Liams made a good job with his ZX9R engine by cutting and
shutting the bike manifold with oversize tubes seamed over the joins. Worked really well!
My build is going soooo well! Its totally rolling with engine fitted! Will post a pic when I get back - soooo chuffed! Major thanks to Liam - that boy
is a fast builder......on other peoples cars!

Where is that manifold from on the picture you posted?
It doesnt look sva friendly with those spring clips across the joints?

Its a custom built manifold from a company called Promotive, they make a lot of the British and World Superbike exhausts and not long been doing cars,
myself and Graeme Finlayson (Fluke Motorsport) had two made up on his car a few weeks ago.
Im already on the road so no SVA worries but if you were going that route Im sure there are other ways they could hold it together
