Fireblade clocks

Does anyone know if it possible to use cbr1000rr clocks instead of '98 919 carb ones.

The cbr1000rr clocks have one large tacho and everything else is digital. So guess they are from a late bike.

IMO if its anything like the R1 clocks, it probably takes a lot of its feeds direct from the ECU which the 98 ECU probably wouldnt supply or wouldnt supply in the ame format, so I would imagine you'd need quite a bit of electronics knowhow to get all to work from the 98 loom.

Im using these ones too! Cool looking things - Ive had a bit of a challenge getting everything to work and its still going to be pretty hard to get an accurate speed and tacho reading but everything else is straightforward - Rorty posted some manual links a while back I think - I wired mine up from there mostly...

Right, Geoff, you're using the clocks with the engine from which it came, correct? I too looked into this and agree with Chris: it would take a bit of computer engineering know how to get this to work with the 919 blade motor.

I agree these look much better than the standard clocks and would rather use these. I'd love to be proven wrong on this one, but again, I have to agree with Chris on this one.

Geoff: Since you're using clocks from the donor engine, why so much trouble getting them to work?

Wrong im afraid!

Im using these clocks with the CBR 1000 engine and loom!

All of the warning lights and stuff have been tested and can be made to work pretty easily.

As for the speedo and tacho its a challenge I have to admit!

Current thinking is kind of - worry about it later! Both the tacho and speedo are liking the pulses I've been giving them from my signal generator and so I can calibrate what I need to generate from there. I'll then have to try and replicate this with a very carefully matched trigger wheel mounted on the prop (speedo) or electronically using some jiggery pokery from RS or something! Dunno exactly how yet but I teach electronics and the kids are off on study leave as of today so there should be plenty of time to aply about with breadboards and sig gens and stuff - if it works I'll post up a circuit diagram if anyones interested in using these clocks?

OK, I got a bit confused...I thought you were using the new CBR1000RR motor with the same clocks. Are you getting oil/water temp reads on the gauge? What about the odometer? I think these clocks also have a shift light...

Can I ask what type of signal you fed the speedo? Waveform, p-p voltage please, it may help me select a sensor to fire my 96/7 Blade clocks.
