BEC vs Diesel
Having got my engine running today, I think I may have a small problem
My daily driver for the past year has been a 1.9tdi Audi (35,000miles) and for the three years before that a 1.9tdi Passat (120,000miles). Same
engine in both cars, which red lines at just 4,400rpm!!!
Now I'm sitting in my Indy with a bike engine that revs to 11,500rpm, I can't bring myself to get it much beyond 6,000rpm. It sounds like
its going to take off!!
Do I just build up slowly, or wear ear plugs?
Getting to the red line is going to be hard!
Should I ditch the Audi and get a VTEC

i used to feel the same about riding my bike, but if you dont put the foot down the plugs just oil up and it starts to cut out at traffic lights.
let her have it!

You wont hurt it with revs mike, plant your foot to the redline in all the gears, just be careful with the downshifts, its engine braking
that does the damage.

Just like driving a diesel, change gears when the limiter kicks in.

I assume Wadders meant over revving it on the downshifts by shifting down too soon and buzzing the engine, obviously something you cant really do
whilst accelerating because the rev limiter cuts in.
