R1 carb heaters

Hi all - just wondering what the opinions are on plumbing in the carb heating pipes, Is it worth bothering with - what has everybody else done?

Cheers

Paul

ps also those 2 90 degree breather pipes with mesh in them that are supposed to go to the airbox (i dont have an airbox) - can these be left as they are or do they need some sort of air filter on the end?
