If the track limit is 105Db at 5m you may just make it... they typically emit 107Db it depends who's measuring and where.

o yeah and my nice carbon race can is going on shortly so mine def will not be acceptable at track days dan sarf- got one at knockhill next friday but lucky for us its out in the middle of nowhere so nobody gives a sh1t how loud the noise is!

A big thanku to yourself and the lads at MK for finding me the cam tensioner- the engine sounds loverly once more! i'm definately gonna keep it for a future project- its just a fab engine!

Replaced my MK can with a 6" dia 600mm long plus a Merlin motorspot muffler to get under 100DB @45degree 0.5m. I also put a fire blanket temporarily over the engine for the test as much of the noise came from engine noise not exhaust.

Good luck

Mine was 104.8db at SVA! Completely standard MK manifold and can, I'd say you need some form of silencing!

Rich.

And remember for every 3 decibells then it's twice as loud.

In other words 103dB is twice as loud as 100dB and 106dB is twice as loud as 103dB.

Not so! 3dB = twice the power but not twice the volume. The human ear is non-linear and it is more or less the case that 10dB = twice the volume. Of course the ear isn't even non-linear non-linearly and at low volumes the 10dB rule doesn't hold true.

Sorry Vince.
