fireblade flooding
First, sorry for my bad english
Today i tried to start my MK Indy with carbed fireblade from 1999.
The last time the engine run was about 2 months ago, after i took the carbs off and cleaned them verry good.
Today when i tried to start it, the engine almost instantly stopted, i could keep it running with a lot of gas but that was also for a very short time
and it died again. I know i flooded the engine.
There was petrol coming from the overflow pipes.
What could it be ?
The carbs are clean, but are the floaters stuck again ???
Hope you guys know what this could be.

what fuel pump you using?could be too much pressure.....and your english is better than my dutch btw

It's a fuelpump with a small mitsubishi (???) logo on it, the bike scrapyard where i bought it said it's the normal one for fireblade
engines.

Has it got a black plastic end cap for about 1/3rd of its length, one straight and one 90 degree pipe?
If so thats the normal carb pump, so it should be fine.
Is it possible you've assembled the carbs wrongly?

If its the correct fuel pump a gentle tap on the side of the float bowl usually free's the floats, they do stick from time too time.

The fuelpump is the one you discribed fbi.
I will try tapping at the side of the carbs today, thanks for the tip, i let you know if it worked.

Tonight i tried to start the blade after i cleaned the sparkplugs and tapped on the side of the carbs 
First it started to run but after 10 seconds she stoped. Tried to start again but even with choke she wouldend start.
Strange thing is last summer she ran for about half an hour without any problems and i even did a short testrun.
Are my startingskills that bad  ?

carbs flooding
Same think happened to me. It was cured by cleaning out the carbs and the needle and seats. It appears if the carbs are left for a long time empty
they become sticky. Can you hear the pump clicking, when the carbs are full it should stop. As a safety measure I extended the over flow pipe so that
it clears the engine bay. Hope this will be some help to you. david

Oké, thanks for the reply.
That must be the thing.
Last summer when she was running i cleaned the carbs before i started the engine, and this time i didn't.
I will clean them again.
Already extended the overflow pipe.
The fuelpump is going on and of almost as click click click when it's on pressure.

Fireblade flooding?
Hi guys similar thing for me. MK IDy blade with carbs.
Starts with bits of throttle for 5-10secs then can run up to temp fine.
Get to bottom of road on test run dip clutch to get 1st and stalls.
Trying to get going again is tricky and I have managed by turning pump of then giving loads of gas in attempt to burn fuel off. Bit of popping and
then seems to clear.
Do you think this is flossing? Too much pressure?
