Yamaha R1 engine
I am looking for some advice if I may.
I am looking at an MK Indy and intend to install a Yamaha R1. These seem in reasonable supply at the minute and have reasonable performance. They
appear to be carb models upto 2001, with the new ones being injected.
My question is, does anyone know of a reason why I shouldn't use the injection model? They are a little more expensive upfront, but have all of
the benefits of an injection engine and will come 'emmision friendly' with all the gadgets and gizmo's to get a new plate.

If you dont get replies here then ask on the Yahoo Groups BEC list, a few chaps there run R1's.

The injection R1 is another cracker from the Yamaha stable. Go for it. I went for a 2001 carbed version due to it being alot cheaper/plentyful last
year.
Emissions should be simpler and no need for the rent a cat air bleed system I used. Also if the desire takes you can play about with the mapping etc
and drag a few more ponies out of the motor.

If you want some R1 info on both engines look here
Fuel injecton has more power wether it is more difficult to install I have no idea.
