R1 rectifier wires?
I ran my engine tonight and noticed that the wires (3 white) to the rectifier from the engine got warm (almost hot).
I switched off when I noticed it and checked connections but found nothing amiss. Started up again and ran it untill the fan cut in. Still warm but
not getting hotter. Any ideas.
They're the original wires, I've nothing else electrical connected (lights etc) and its an 06 R1.

The rectifier its self gets hot too, i would think nothing unusual with that to be honest.

keep the rectified in a cool place, or use a heat dissipating plate (like CPU's ones).

Rectifier is mounted on a big plate with heat sink paste under it and its only just warm. Its the wires I was bothered by.
However I've been thinking about this...The engine has been started up quite a few times to satisfy customers curiosity (when they see it in the
workshop). I think the battery might have lost a bit of charge and last night the alternator was just working hard to boost it back up and the wires
heated up as a result. Going to see how thing go!

So here's a question:
I've cut the three white wires to the length required. I guess soldering cables that get hot is a very bad plan!?

If they get hot enough to melt the solder then you've got a real problem!

I can't see a problem.
It shouldn't get hot enough to melt solder and the joint will conduct same as the rest of the wire. Use crimped bullets if you don't trust
solder.
