Swinging Pick Up

Anyone any ideas how this works. Looks a nice bit of kit but my God what a price

So it is in laymans terms a dangly pickup pipe that will move with the flow of the oil i.e. centrifugal?

this a billet sump with the pickup shown at the bottom

i have been thinking of getting 1 from ape but not sure it would work due to the way my engine is fitted as my output shaft faces the front of my car it depends on how far the pickup would swing
