Trickshifter question?

I have a trickshifter that I am going to use on my R1 engine.
The actuator will be on the end of a gearshift cable.
There are no suitable bolts I can remove on my engine to mount the cable clamp. As I am rear engined the only bolts are the head bolts and I am not about to mess with them !
My question is regarding mounting the cable from a chassis bracket.
Although the engine is solidly mounted, will there be enough vibration/movement between the chassis and engine to cause the actuator to think I am about to change gear and thus cause a misfire?

Cheers Martin

or just wear out the shifter prematurely. Surely you could drill and tap a hole into something on the casing?

On a bike the actuator would normally replace an arm from a chassis mounted pedal to the engine.
I may have just answered my own question!!

I think that any mount would need to be substantial to stop any movement in the cable and I don't fancy drilling the head.

I think you have!

My flat shifter is mounted onto a bracket on the chassis. There is little movemebnt of the engine as it's solid mounted so I don't see any problem. It's what the manufacturer recommends!

Mine is, effectively, only a sensor which provides an earth to the Emerald ECU which controls the flatshift parameters. I don't think the Trcikshifer will be any different in its mounting though!

I have just got an email from John Charlton from trickshifter.com who said that it will be ok.

I have one of these fitted to my race bike and it's a superb bit of kit. The sensitivity of it can be adjusted as i found out when i had carillo con rods installed the engine was slightly out of balance and the extra vibes kept setting it off.

Soc basically just adjust it till it's just how you want it
