As with jet kits for carb enignes, I'd have thought you'd need one to adjust for the different exhaust and for SVA emissions etc.

A power commander would be a good idea. You'll probably be running too lean otherwise.

sorry to high jack, but what exactly are power comanders and alike?
2003 fi R1, would that engine require one at any point? think the car will be plenty fast enough for me, but what about mpg, MOT etc

hi kriss you map the fuel perfect with them
as most fit sausage filter and race exhaust seing as your having a pretty normal setup itll be fine perhaps something to budget for at a later date
you dont need an MOT for three years so wouldnt worry at all about that part

A power commander will help to set up the fuelling, the map it comes with will get the engine running, then take the vehicle to a rolling road, get them
to blank the map and build a new one to suite your vehicle whilst under load,do not be tempted to down load a free map off the internet, here at my
workshop we have seen so many bikes that have been built costing many thousands of pounds in building the engine to find the map they are running is a
free download or its a copy of their mates map,we power test the bikes on the dyno for them, and they can not understand why their bike runs so badly
it would nat pull a greasy man out of bed.
