Blackbird question

Anyone know whether you can mount carbs on the later injected bird engine - and vice versa?

Obviously ECU permitting

Spacings different between carb and throttle body centres but still possible

I believe people have just twisted the original rubbers round to adjust spacing but this will leave large steps in the inlet tract which isnt so good, i've made some adapter rings to fit on the head stubs, these then bring the od up to the same size as the throttle bodies and will enable straight hose with a slight curve in it to connect bodies to engine (does any of that make sense, its been a long day)

Yeah, I think so. The key thing is that it can be done without too much trouble.

Is there any real performance (or other) advantage to the injection engine? I know that they quoted 10bhp or so more, but that was taking into account the ram-air (which never works properly on BEC anyway.

There's a tidy looking injection engine on fleabay I was considering...

Don“t you have a harder time with the ECU / immobiliser side of things with the injection engines or is it just the later ones? Its called HISS isn“t it? All good if the engine comes with all the bits but if it doesn“t then it adds a load of cash on. Unless you are going to junk the standard ECU?
