R1 oil pressure/level ????

Hi all,

I have connected the oil sensor on my 2000 R1 to the oil warning on my new KOSO gauage. Now thwe light is on all the time... so i am figuring the koso gauge is an indiciation of low oil pressure not level??? am i correct. If so what have people done regarding this because to my knowledge there is no oil pressure sensor on the r1. Have they just left it un connected at the koso gauge?

Cheers
Adam

I just read some online stuff found via google, it seemed to suggest the following:

ON PAGE 3-3 OF MY OWNERS MANUAL THE LIGHT IS AN OIL/COOLANT TEMP INDICATOR LIGHT

Could that be the light you have on? Do you have a manual? Check first what you have, then maybe people could help!

..... Now I read elsewhere that it is definately not a temperature light! Good luck!

Ive connected the white wire, which on the haynes manual states it's an oil level light. Now apparently the KOSO is a oil pressure warning....not level. So i figure i have it wired up wrong. My question now is how do people do this?

Unless you're using the original Yamaha gauges, most people ditch the oil level sender (or just leave it unplugged) because its not a simple on/off switch, it has a varying resistance depending on level so you'd need some electronics to convert that into an on/off type connection for a warning light.

Most install a proper pressure gauge instead, often by tapping out the large anodised bolt that holds the oil/water cooler (next to the oil filter). Have a look at www.r-one.co.uk for some more info
