zx12r fuel pipes

The zx12r that I will be fitting to my bec is an a1 year 2000 model,I am using the standard fuel pump from the bike fitted to the bottom of the fuel tank, the fuel rail has a return pipe.I asume I will have to fit a return fuel pipe from the rail back to the tank,is this the case? if so can the return be fed into the top of the tank or does it have to be fed to the bottom?

The ZX12r doesn't need a return to tank pipe, it has a pressure sensative fuel pump, it switches off when sufficient pressure is achieved IIRC 5 psi.

if it doesn't need a return does that mean that I need to blank off the return at the fuel rail and what about the pressure sensor that is connected to the tubing on the return

Ed, I've looked at the pictures you sent me and your engine does indeed need a fuel return. The B models (introduced in 2002) did away with the fuel return pipe but as yours is an earlier engine, a return is required. I'd put the return into the top of the tank as Athoirs has.

PS - Ignore what Steve said earlier, his mind is elsewhere at the moment

I have an early ZX12 fitted with a gsxr fuel pump in the tank, It runs a single feed to the fuel rail which is blanked at the return end.

which bits changed on the newer B1 onwards models that allows this set up but not on my installation? help!

Dave, what year is your engine?

On the B models introduced in 2002, the fuel pump was re-designed which eliminated the need for a return feed.

Its a 2001 a1 engine, is it the pump that changed on the bikes with the b engine?
