Feeding loads into chassis....
As some of you may know, I am converting a F750 race car into a track day beast using a ZX9R engine...
I am just working out the engine mountings....I have in mind what I want to do, but thought I might run it past you clever people and see if you can
point out my mistakes.
Im genuinely not sure how beefy they need to be...
The origional chassis is made from 20x20x2mm steel box....
The origional engine was mounted to the floor, so the upper rails dont appear to have much strength.
I figure I can triangulate the top rails around the engine bay down to the floor so the load bearing points are pretty well fixed to the floor and
pass the engine loads straight down...
Once thats done I wanted to hang the engine off the top rails like this:
Red= new steel brackets
Blue=Bolt
Green= hidden chassis rail
If the structure was made out of 25*25*2mm box I would not be quite so worried........But any thoughts much appreciated...

thats how i hung my engine. Only slight problems is the spars down the sides of the engine see a lot of bending on them, assuming they are only
supported on the ends.
