dating a zx12r engine for sva
Am I correct in thinking that when I finally sva my car I will need some sort of writen proof of the age of the zx12r engine I have fitted, I know
it's an a1 model which makes it year 2000/2001 but I have no proof.
I don't know the registration of the bike it came off and I have been told that I will need this to date the engine, even by kawasaki.
Has anyone been able to date their engine from the engine number alone and what sort of proof is required for the sva?
Also will I need a receipt for the engine when submitting the build receipts?

you'll have to ring kawasaki uk they will charge but they will send you a letter to confirm engine age
as long as you have the full engine number
i did mine then lost the letter so back to square 1 doh!!

I took my engine number into my local Kawa dealer. From that he managed to find the reg / spec and all the original info for the bike that my engine
came out of.
He then printed off that screen onto his headed paper and it satisfied my sva man.
But, isn't it a bit academic, as any post 95 engine is going to need a CAT test anyway?

yep i agree with mike, its a cat test regardless so no proof needed imho just tell them its a 2001.
proof is generally only required to get a lesser emmisions test not a cat test
