Buying a BEC soon (again)
Hi all,
I am selling my clio cup car race prepped and coming back to BECS yet again, i love them!!!
Am looking at a fury x race car fireblade powered and a westy blade. I will be using it mostly on track but occasional sunny day blast. The fury is
ready to rock and roll, so is the westy but i would like a full cage fitted and a few changes here and there.
What are your views on the fury/westy?
Good points?
I have followed the rgb years ago and know the furys have done very well, probably due to the better aerodynamics.

I'd want to sit in them both before choosing - I have heard the fury is a little snug for tallish people.

Very sexy 60s sportscar looks, I could see Austin Powers in one (is that a good thing?), aerodynamics, race modded chassis (lowered), light weight
race bodywork, lots of success on track.

Fury everytime - not that I'm biased
As for tall people not being able to fit I'm 6'5" and its snug but comfy.
In a Phoenix however I couldn't fit (bought an ex-RGB car but sold it after a few months once I'd truly realised even with a foam seat it
was too tight a squeeze).
Although I suppose it depends what your legs to body ratio is. Best way to find out is to sit in one.
As implied above more space can be gained by running a expanding foam seat. I have the simple fibreglass shell seats (half height).

Only if you've got Cobra Roadsters installed! I swapped my Intratrim Voyagers for Roadsters and have regretted it every day since as the
Voyagers were much more suited to the car.

I'd say Fury. Better aero' (mine goes through 130 in fifth with a gear and throtle to spare) and more weather protection (I drove to
Newark in the rain and stayed dry with no weather gear except a full screen). I'm 6' and fit no problem. In fact I could move the seat
forward a notch.

cheers all,
I thought that the aerodynamics played a part in the success over the 7 style set up. Is it just the newer fury rgb race cars that have the lowered
chassis?

Fury
Fury is a good choice. I wouldn't worry too much about getting the "race" lowered chassis as this is meant to run the car at 75mm
ride height. While OK for a race car, it would not be ideal on the road. You will want at least 4" (100mm) ride height to be practical.
Many of the Fury's in RGB are standard chassis and in fact last year's RGB championship winning car was a live axled fury that was built
years before they had a special lowered chassis.
Just get a well cared for/well spec'd one and enjoy.

I'd also agree with what Paul said if you want to use it on the road the race lowered chassis is too low. I've got barely 100mm on my
road/track day Fury as believe me its low enough.
Specially if you have speed humps near where you live etc.
