BEC Insurance
I have just phoned a few places for an insurance quote for my BEC kitcar. Just wondered if you thought the quotes were good or bad:
The policy will cover:
R1 Engine
1500 miles per year
fully comp
24 years old driver with no no claims for this car
Good postcode
Clean license
Garaged
The quotes are:
Adrian flux - 289
Sureterm Direct - 274
Footman - Call back in a year!
Is there anywhere else I could try
Ben

Does'nt seem to bad. bear in mind storage and postcode have a big impact.
Are they the bare quotes, without breakdown cover and other trimmings.
Also is that aggreed value?
Mine is £210, for a lowly Fireblade and I'm over 40
I've found AF to be most competitive for 3 years now

Considering your age, they aren't too bad. You also have to factor in your post code, whether your car is garraged and whether you have access
to another car.
I had to provide proof that I have another car for daily use. That and my age make my quotes £70 or £80 per year less than yours. I found that is
was only another £20 or so to go up to the next milage band too.
Consider how much you'd have to pay to insure an elise or an evo, then pay the £270 realising that it will probably be less next year.
Does your nan or someone have a garrage in a cheaper post code area? Can you keep the car round there?
edit to say, I was told it would be cheaper to have a big V8 rather than a bike engine. Well, in insurance rather than fuel.

im fairly happy with the quotes, just thought if there was someone else that I have not tried I could give them a bell to see what there quote is. It
doesn't hurt giving them a call, especially whilst in work.
I will have to check if the 'value ' of the car is agreed , i never thought to ask . I once paid £2500 a year for a 2.0 16v megane coupe!
the joys of being 18.
