Bike engine and megasquirt igntion

how difficult would it be to get a BEC running fully on megasquirt V3?

I'm guessing a 36-1 trigger wheel would need to go on the crank somewhere and then go the normal route.

i was planning a CEC route with ignition and fuelling controlled from the Megasquirt im building at the moment but "Paul TigerB6" has got me wanting a BEC (amazing what a short clip on youtube can do eh? )

It would be nice to control both Ignition and fuelling on a BEC, can it be done?

as to what engine i really dont know, ZX9R, blade.... whatever so long as its cheap

cheers

Matt

What a complete git he is!!!!

If you want a BEC and to keep it pretty simple then i'd stick to as much of the bike bits as possible (carbs or TB's / ECU / fuel pump / clocks / loom etc). I'm sure you can sell the MegaSquirt once its tested on here and have a decent chunk of what you will need towards a bike engine package. There really is no need to complicate matters with an aftermarket ECU unless really required for a specific purpose - its going to cost you loads more for starters (mapping etc)

With such a highly strung engine I wonder if you're more likely just to reduce the performance unless you really know what you're doing with tuning?

Dunno, just a suspicion!

Cheers,
James

i thought megajolt/squirt woudn't work because the engine spins too fast for the trigger wheel sensor? maybe thats all been resolved though

I,m running my 893 blade engine on megasquirt, left the ignition side with the bike provided kit.

It has a few advantages

one its very easy
Its very cheap
It has a rev limiter inbuilt

Seems okay, I believe I got more midrange torque as after the carbs I had to stop the clutch slipping @ 8000rpm

It is possible to run the MS v3 on the hayabusa engine, even with the standard flywheel pick-up. The advantages can range from a raised rev limit, different gear based maps and launch control. MS is also ideal for running secondary injectors on turbo applications. I can post some links of other people experimenting with it if you like. Having said all that, a clever man from Finland has hacked the busa ecu so you just plug your laptop in and map away.
So this could be the end for power commanders.
