5vy loom help
Hi
Has any body any advice on fitting ecu, regulator and bearing in mind reg needs to be kept cool have you lengthend the loom?
also whear have you mounted the atmospheric pressure sensor.
its a indy-r with a 06 r1 lump any pictures will be a great help happy new year all.

If you can’t reach behind the scuttle, how about making a box out of aluminum for inside the engine bay or simply buy a flat aluminum case with a
lockable lid (I have one for my radio control plane transmitter that was quite inexpensive) and then routing a duct into it to feed cool air? You
could also use the same box it to house the fuses and relays, keeping it all neat and tidy rather than have a bird’s nest nightmare behind the dash
Not sure just how cool the regulator really needs to be? as on a bike I’d imagine it gets quite hot really

Hi, we have fitted the regulator on the right hand side aluminium shelf under the bonnet in front of the scuttle (LHD car, 2005 R1 engine). The ecu is
fitted on the left hand side also on the aluminium shelf using an aluminium strap as bracket. Neither of these required the loom to be lengthened, but
we had to lengthen a few smaller wires for some sensors, etc... but we could easily use the wires we cut off the loom elsewhere.
We fitted the pressure sensor on the underside of the airbox base plate, with the sensor pointing inside the airbox and a rubber ring to seal the
airbox.
Here is a picture, the pressure sensor is just about visible above the grey multiplug...

The regulator should be mounted on a decent heat sink (mine's on the side of the footwell, steel plate), ideally with some heat transfer
grease/paste under it and in a decent air flow. They are killed by the heat they generate if not properly cooled.

Thanks all
I know the regultors run hot and thats why they are made with cooling fins and placed in a position on a bike to get the most air flow but when your
putting a bike engine in to a car chassis the loom at standard length does not always enable you to do this. thanks for all your advice.
