Engine dilemma

Afternoon all.
I have a slight problem with my blackbird engine. Recently I started getting a few extra false neutrals, but put it down to old oil or me using the car more often and not being careful enough. Turns out I now have no 4th gear at all.
When you select 4th you can hear the gears trying to mesh, but not quite making it. The application of loud pedal results in it spitting the gear out and then trying to drop back in when you lift off. Only problem is that this happened when I was 60 miles from home. I decided to try and limp home whilst avoiding 4th gear as the AA wanted an extra £69 to tow me home, and since the box was broken anyway..... Then about 2-3 miles from home I lost all drive. The engine runs fine, but when you try to get 1st all you get is a horrible grinding type noise. You can even start the car in 1st and all it does is make a funny noise. The funny noise I assume must be the clutch, which I can sort. How difficult is it likely to be to sort 4th out? Is it possible that the clutch issue is as simple as a broken chunk of gear holding it open?
Also, where will be the cheapest place to buy the replacement parts and gasket sets?

hi as luck would have it i do have a spare blackbird engine that i was using for spares etc,

i think the big ends are gone but the gearbox is ok and all the casings are good no rocker cover as used on my car, sump in place etc,

just the block no carbs etc on this,

but could do a good deal for you on it to clear from the garage,

also has no engine no think it came from a grass track racer etc

let me know what you think could send pic of it for you,

be cheaper im sure than a new geabox,

cheers
