Hunting and Stalling
Another question related to my ZX9. It's now ticking over at around 1100rpm and then at somewhere between 12 and 16 seconds the revs will rise
to around 1500rpm and then drop right down and stall. Any ideas? I'm playing with the mixtur at the mo but it's not really affecting it
and I've stripped and cleaned the carbs again.

Sound like its using the fuel in the carb bowl then stopping - partially blocked fuel line?

Yup sounds awfully like the float bowls running dry...

Think I'll check the fuel pump's running then. I did play with the wires after removing an immobiliser.

Fuel pump's fine. It's good enough to get it right down to my elbow!
Just thinking. Once the engine's stalled it'll start again after a few cranks, not right away so it's like the fuel's being
used quicker than it can be replenished.
I cleaned the float bowls and the inlets were dirty so I cleaned the filters on them.
Any further ideas?

Ha ha! I think I've done it. There's a breather pipe on the carbs that leaked fuel when I bought the engine nearly 3 years ago. At the
time I thought it was a coolant pipe and had a bit of manky tape on the end. When I replaced the master cylinder a few weeks ago there were little
caps in the inlets and I found one to be just the right size to replace the manky tape. Here's the problem I think.
I think that air was just getting by with the tape but with the cap I think it was sucking until it couldn't suck any more then choking and
stalling.
I've just started it in the garage and its working again! Pity I cancelled my SVA retest which would have been tomorrow morning as well At
least I won I suppose.

I'm well pleased. I've just to wait for another mixtur screw tomorrow as one had a split O ring when I looked at it then I'm going
to give it a run up to temperature and see how it behaves.
