R1 03 - how to confirm clutch slip?

Recently, 3rd gear from medium revs to flooring it seems to generate louder engine noise compared to how well the car is pulling. However, the few times I have been able to keep an eye on the revs, its no bounced off the limiter.

This did happen before my track day, but the car seemed to perform brilliantly, however I was concerned that although I was lapping in the 57's, my speed crossing the line was barely 100mph (my speedo may be wrong but not much surely)

I know in a car, the car to test slip is to be going up a slight slope as say 40mph in top gear, and then floor it. both speed and revs should pick up together. this is true in my R1 Indy, so I am unsure as to what it could be or if I need to replace an item.

the car pulls mega when flooring it through the gears (inc 3rd)

one option could be to get the pressue plate and spring by barnett? i aint got the guts or know how to tackle the conversion, even though they provide a step by step guide lol

From what you've said it does indeed sound like clutch slip. I would just make sure that your clutch cable isn't too tight (although it should do it in more gears) but just really slacken it off and do the same tests as before...

If you need to replace stuff, then the usual thing to do is to go for O.E. stuff for the plates and then barnett for the springs...

The Barnett Spring conversion is really easy to fit. The hard bit is getting the cover back on and the clutch release arm hooked up with the pul rod.

Well worth checking the condition of the clutch plates and steels (for bluing) if you are suspicious of them.

one thing, do you need a new gasket and swap the oil to check/replace the plates and springs?

The R1 03 doesnt use springs, it uses a diaphram, still available from Barnett.

You will need a new gasket
