Kit car crash - Reading
Just noticed this in a local paper. The road in question is straight, wide and well surfaced, with no hidden hazards.
Short of mechanical failure and third party involvement would be interested to know the cause.
Also adds fuel to the wear a helmet at all times debate.
Cheers, Pewe

Man suffers head injuries after car crash
A MAN suffered serious head injuries after a car crash in Lower Earley yesterday (Wednesday).
The man, believed to be in his 60s, was the sole passenger in a Birkin kit car which was in collision with a tree after it left the road on Lower
Earley Way at 3pm.
He was airlifted to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital where he is in a serious condition.
Officers closed the road between Rushey Way and Meldreth Way for more than three hours while crash investigators accessed the scene.

Its a very serious point you make! Can anyone tell me how we feed the world's population if we cure Aids or Cancer, or stop having lethal
accidents for that matter?

Back to a bit of reality hear boys....
A man is in hospital, seriously injured...
We don't know the whole story...
He has family....
I hope in all my heart he recovers completely....
Mr Workshop a little compassion....
Your comments would have been better placed after the poor man had recovered......
If indeed he does
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

I'm sure everyone hopes he is ok but the original point related to the use of helmets in kits and Mango's point was to me more of the type
of we cant go through life worrying about every incident that ever happens and let it rule our life. As we dont know the details then how can we judge
if a helmet would have helped the poor guy? I know one former LocostBuilders member from locally who nearly lost his partner in a car crash (in her
tintop) to head injuries before she was taken through illness and he doesnt generally wear a helmet himself.

I too hope said driver is OK and makes a good recovery - we've all at one time or another come close to this kind of incident whether we realise
it at the time or not.
There but for the grace indeed!
Back to the population cull debate - IMHO it'll be water that dictates world popluation and uprising/war situation over the rest of this
century. Modern food is simply a by product of our ability to manage our water resources - something we are wholly unable to to.
The transition from oil and gas as our energy sources will seem like a minor irritation by comparison to our future water issues!

It's pi$$ing down outside, Armageddon can wait I think.
Sorry to be flippant but whoever wrote the article seems to have highlighted the problem

Nobody was driving. Bad journalism to blame I think and I hope he recovers to tell what happened.

2/3rds of the earth is water, the only reason we don't process sea water into drinking water is the cost and its unnessery, but its relatively
easy to do. Its how we manage our gold thats gonna be the real thing, that why all those adds are on at the moment. That gold is traded for spice and
he that controls the spice, controls the universe.
To the topic at hand, the man is one of us as it were and we all hope he recovers.

I think we all know we are driving potent cars and that's the thrill of driving them.
Our frailty is accepted and how we manage the risk (by wearing a helmet or not amongst other things) is up to us.
The real tragedy here is that someone took his mate out for a blit, presumably to share the experience and the mate is now at death's door. My
hope is that two lives and that of their relatives aren't destroyed if the passenger does succumb.
Be careful out there!
Cheers, Pewe
