What to do
I am looking for a cheap alternative(is there a "cheap" in motorsport?)
My westy has an engine bay filled with Mazda rotary engine and although I like it as its quick and unusual it is a tad on the unreliable side as we
are trying a few different things. But while we are doing this it keeps me from the track as most of our time is spend on the dyno. I have aquired an
ols Mazda rx7 to drop my engine into to make it a test mule so to speak. I am now leaning towards bike power to at least get me out there to have some
fun.
Sny Ideas on what engine, sump mods and obvious things like prop flange or what ever you want to call it. Exhaust is no worries as we can fabricate
that but any other ideas will be helpfull. I just want to get out there with a decent amount of power with out scaring my wallet.
Cheers
Brian

cheap motorsport!! LOL
Cheaper - buy a kart and race that instead?? Pick the class properly and it shouldnt cost you several thousands per year to run, plus entry fees dont
generally run into the hundreds

Sorry by cheap i just want a cheap alternative while I continue to sink £££ into the rotary. If I had save every penny from my racing expenditure over
the last 25 years I would be depbt free now. Ha she would have spent it elsewhere for sure.
A bike engine apeals due to the compact and lightweight of it all. who knows I might love it and never go back to mazda engines

Put in a zetec or a duratec and run on bike carbs.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.

fit a bike engine then come and race with the RGB series, massive bang for buck - tight racing with a brilliant crowd. Easy class structure - class c
carbed blade only, class B 1000cc injected, class A busa or zx12r. No tuning so stock engines for reliability and cost.
Championship has been won with Strikers, Westfields, Fury's and Phoenix

Hayabusa engine packages have come right down in the recession, you can now get them for £1500 on ebay. Prop flanges were £50 on ebay last time I
looked. Nove Racing do very good dry sumps.

1.6 4age 20v vvti would have gone in my Westfield if I hadn't wasted so much time and money on a this F**ing fireblade conversion, nearly binned
it all last weekend to put a 20v in myself, but I’m in too deep now so I'm having to spend my way out (not a good place to be)!! Its not the
engines fault just my lack of knowledge when if comes to welding.
The 20v 4age comes with throttle bodies as standard and is a real screamer, have a look at the Raw site as they love them. Not that expensive
either
Ford Racing puma engines seem to be good for hill climbs and sprints as are Vauxhall XE's. Siltechs 250bhp XE car goes quite well!!!.
Duratec is another good value option.

Bike engines may look like a cheap option, but to make them work properly/reliably for competition use isn’t.
Or come and make me an offer I can't refuse for my Fireblade package with all the right bits to go racing .
BTW do you have a Siltech front end??

Why yes I have siltech front end. very good I must say. I am almost at the stage where I am going to do the old spend out of trouble trick myself.
My rotary engine was to have 185 @whells minimum but after several trips to the rollers and countless changes of jets, chokes, inlet manifolds of
difering lengths the end result has only been 140bp 'wheels and only rev to 7200. It should make it to 9500. Different exhaust lengths have now
also been tried with no difference. i must say that the fuel stand off vapour coming out the top of the carb is impressive so it looks like we are not
getting enough air through so it may well be ports. Will pull it apart in jan and have a looky but in the mean time I will continue to investigate
other options
