Fireblade No oil pressure FFS
Trackday 8.00 am this coming Saturday.
Working round life since last weekend I've dropped the oil oil out, and put in a new clutch as it was just starting to slip.
New oil filter filled with oil and a full engine of oil. Plugs out.
Can I get it to prime and get the oil light off.!!!
Im only glad I did'nt fire it up.
Any emergency ideas that doesnt involve taking it apart?

OK I'll go first
Slightly calmer as having pulled the oil pressure switch out and cranked it, there is a good pumping of oil coming out.
So I suspect that (with the higher than std rated pressure switch) it just aint spinning fast enough without firing it up.
Too late to fire it up now, will try tomorrow evening after work

How long have you been spinning it ?
I would be tempted to fire it up on tick over and see if that gives the pump
the extra speed to prime.
I wouldn't let it run for longer than 30 seconds or so unless the oil light goes out.
As you've just dropped the oil recently there will be residual oil coating everything so
it should be ok in my opinion - different if the engine has been stood for ages.

Sorry
I've been spinning it ages.
I gess I'm more causious that usual because it's been draining for a few days and I fully expected it to take a little bit of spinning to
bring the pressure up
Fingers crossed

This is a very common issue, you have got an airlock the other side of the filter, with the plugs out crack the filter back a turn or so and turn it
over again until oil pumps out around the gap between the now loose filter and the block, if you can tighten filter up while engine is still spinning
over. You should find this gets your oil pressure back

This worked for me ^
If not, and oil is flowing you'll probably find that firing it up gets it off the warning light. It's very helpful to have a numerical
readout of oil pressure in a BEC however - might be worth investing...

slightly OT, but I find the current generation of Honda 4's a lot safer, The pressure switch on my old F2 and K4 was at the top of the system,
and by the time you realised you had a problem ie light not going out. it had taken the cam carriers out,
the advantage in some respects was they had tappet inspection covers so you could fill the top end before cranking it over and hopefully giving the
cams a bit of protection till the light went off.

Its all good.
First flickk with the plugs in fired and up to pressure.
The only downside is having took it for a test drive I've got a bit of a misfire i didnt have before
Plugs out, cleaned and gapped agian and I think i stripped a thread on one tightening it back up
I'm telling ya i'm on a short fuse at the moment. If it goes pop tomorrow that's it
