Carbed R1 induction options

Having just got my car through IVA I need to get my engine setup as I had to tweak the mixture all over the place to get through emissions. Currently I have the standard Airbox fitted but I also have a pipercross sausage filter and plate for the engine. Any ideas on which gives the best performance in a 7?

Also is there any appreciable difference in noise levels?

Cheers
Steve

filter

Hi
we have an Indy with the same engine (carbs) & an R1 air box.
we had loads of problems with emission at the IVA test & failed the 1st one, we then took it to a Racing Co
who tweaked it down as much as possible but was still on the borderline, so I fitted a shut off valve to the AIS valve & turned in down to virtually closed during the test , this worked a treat & passed with flying colours. Then took it off & fitted a small air filter to the pipe.
We then took it back to the Racing Co for tuning to its max on the rolling road.
The results were 150 BHP without re-jetting it.
I did ask the question about a sausage filter, their reply was it would probably not make any difference to performance
but would increase induction noise.
Try it and see.
Good luck
René
