zx9r air filter

hello all...

when mounting the sausage type air filter on the zx9r, what do i need to use (ie keep) from the original airbox? i seem to have the carb tops with o ring, then the base of the airbox, but no trumpets... have i got some parts missing? Not brought my air filter yet, just getting things straight in my head..

cheers
james

I may be wrong but I think you need the trumpets for the correct air flow. I ditched the entire airbox, bought the pipercross sausage filter from Burtons along with a blank ali backplate. Then you cut holes in the backplate to correspond to the trumpets and bolt it down using the trumpet bolts. Fairly easy and nice and slim to fit under the bonnet.

Can't remember the code number for the filter, a search on Pipercross on the forum should bring it up as it's been discussed b4. This was a cheaper option than the TTS one.

You will then need a Dynojet kit as well or the jetting will be wrong.
