Cometic Head Gasket - Honda Blackbird

Morning

With a stripped spark plug hole and the head needing to come off, I have started looking about to buy a replacement head gasket. Remember the engine is a Rotrex job and will run 12psi. As i started browsing the net for cometics It occurred to me they are going to be thin on the ground.

Sure someone will have one, I found a few in the US but can anyone point me at UK based suppliers of Cometics ?

I might even buy two as they are not too common.

cheers folks

Ivan

Try searching for Multi Layered Steel or MLS Gaskets, that's how I found a UK supplier for my Jag Cometic gasket, I too just got US suppliers when searching Cometic.

+1 for Burton Power........might not be the cheapest though.

They deal with Cometic in the USA so if they havn't got what you need, they'll order it for you......at least they did for me about 4 years ago when I needed a thickness that they didn't have in their standard range.

Worth checking if there is a specified surface finish required for the mating surface of the head.
There was on the XE, So might well be worth a check ?

I spoke to these guys back and they can make mls head gaskets as well as other types to any thickness.

Send them a CAD file and what thickness you want and they will do something for you.

http://www.ferriday.co.uk/

They even had a CR calculator to help you.

Not used them, yet, and dont know them but they are my top choice when I start my supercharger build

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Good call Bizzle thanks for that link, likewise the other replies.

When Ive started reading about these things, I discovered that the Cometic gasket relates to a 81mm bore, which is the 1195cc big bore Blackbird engine, so im in a bit of a cleft stick here as stock Blackbirds are 79mm. And I dont want to buy until I know what Ive got, as my engine is still an unknown quantity till I pull it down and have a measure.

Some of you folks may be interested in this thread I found the other day, someone doing some very trick machining.
