Changing Bike Engine Exhaust
Hi,
i'm gonna use a VFR 800 bike exhaust
its a V4 that means that i have 2 cilinders @ a side of the car, the original exhaust system goes from the sides unther the engine where they come
together to 1 big outlet.
I wanted to build 2 escapes 1 @ a side
has anyone a idea wich consequents this has?
i saw allot of bikeengines and they all have a changed exhaust system.

Consequences ...... I would have thought just a lot of extra fabrication and hassle!

i was more thingink of poor outlet performance or more noise etc.

To an extent, 4-2-1 exhausts are tuned to maximise the extraction of exhaust gasses so if you seperate it out you might have an adverse effect,
possibly in the form of a flat spot in the mid-range or possibly not quite as much torque, but but I doubt it would make a huge difference as long as
the exhaust was designed properly. From my limited knowledge of exhaust tuning I think its the length of the primaries and where they join each other
thats the more important bit, the secondary 2-1 bit is less important for exhaust tuning. It might make it sound a bit different though.

What about a balance tube between the two exhausts?

Just had a quick look at honda's website.
VFR800 had dual exhaust (under seat exit) which will both have come from a single collector (i reckon).
If you have that, keep it part of your system and split from there rearwards. IIWY, I'd just run a single pipe down one side. I think it'd
sound a bit funny otherwise

For the advise sofar,
Well, i have a VFR 800 from '98.
The engine is a real beauty but it has
3 disadvantes, HIGH, WITH, Sprocket position.
Back to the exhaust chit,
The Standard bike exhaust goes from the Front cilinders to unther the oilpan to the back there it joins the other one's wich use verymuch room
because of the 'same lengt rule'
and that only the pipes cost me @ that side 15Centimiters @ that side also is de big final output.
my idea was to split the exhaust and @ every side of the chasis 1 exaustpipe the cilinders are really close to the chasis sides. Soow that would be
easy modelling.
The problem is if i would brake the Honda design.
If i want to use the original system i need to consider 2 things.
1) i would lose arround 70mm ground movement (40mm from the pan 30mm of the pipe diameter.
2) @ one side i need to bent the pipes forwards to stay in the chasis

wich lengt is good for it?
where should it be conected?
it should join the 4 together right??

Unless you really know what you're doing, I would keep the diameter and lenght of the system the same. Route it where you want, but you'll
probably be in all sorts of troubles if you change the characteristics of the system.
