Newbie here
Hi all
First post so be gentle. For some idea that must have made sense at some point in the past I'm building a BEC. Not one of those them there fancy
kit thingies but a 1969 Mk3 Triumph Spitfire with Yamaha Fazer 1000 engine. It's a Spitfazer ( see what I did there ) your true Spitfire
traditionalist will burn me at the stake but you only live once unless you are of feline persuasion. Engine and drive train are in but I have a couple
of basic questions. Will the original bike battery be ok, no major loads over the bike electrics that I can think of. Also will I need a secondary
fuel pump with original Spitfire tank and engine running carbs or will the bike pump be sufficient.
I'm sure there will be more stupid questions to come

Welcome to the madhouse!
Bike fuel pump should be fine, bike battery, hmmm maybe, depends what the alternator output is like on the Fazer & how long stuff like engine fan
runs for after turned off, bike batteries don't have a lot of reserve capacity for that sort of thing.
Assuming the alternator puts out more than enough to run all electrics you're ever likely to use (which will be quite a bit more than on the
bike) like wipers, 2 lots of lights instead of 1, a larger rad fan than the bike & the blower motor if you're intending to plumb the heater
in then you ought to be ok, but it could all get a bit marginal if you're intending use in all weathers

Thanks for the welcomes. Not sure my budget will stretch to matching the Hyabusa Spitfire but interesting to know others have tried before. I will try
both the original fuel pump and battery and see how we go
