BEC Airbox designs
Hi,
I understand that it is hard to match or even exceed the performance of the stock bike airbox.
However I was wondering how much worse the design (made of aluminium) is which you can see on the pictures below?
Such a design would not protrude the hood much and I would be able to fabricate it myself.
Obviously the intake runner length is way longer compared to stock which should result in a loss of horsepower in the upper rpm range but a gain of
torque in the lower rpm range.
The airbox from Reverie has the stock runner length but it also costs 600 bucks.
What are your thoughts?

Andy at AB Performance manufactures a fibreglass airbox for the Honda Fireblade, you may be able to adapt that.

I know his Airbox but it will probably not clear my engine mounts and furthermore I need an airbox which is compatible with a Gen2 Hayabusa throttle
body spacing.

Pipercross do a plastic universal airbox with a filter incorporated. Costs about £200. You can fit it with 90 degree silicon hoses and drill out a
universal backplate to suit. You should also be able to fit the original rampipes in the box. You'll end up with an intake tract about 150mm
long.

What sort of engine are you using? If it is a later model job with secondary injectors they will need to be allowed for as part of the air box design.
I am going through this at the moment with mine with a 2005 CBR1000 engine and trying to keep everything under the bonnet, would also like to see what
others have done with theirs.

Hi, have you done this and does it work? It seems madness that the reverie grp or any other options works out best part of a grand once you've
got the duct, filter and scoop too. Really want to sort the induction noise on my gen 2 busa MK but need a cheaper solution
